Worship

WORSHIP:  What We Believe

We believe that God created humanity to enjoy and glorify Him.  This is our created purpose.  As we read the Bible God pulls back the curtain of mystery and wonder to reveal Himself to us which causes more mystery and WP- Worship on Sundaywonder!  The Bible teaches us that God is All-Powerful, All-Knowing, Creator and Sustainer of the universe.  It teaches us that He holds the universe within the span of His hand (Isaiah 40:12).  That He appoints the rising of the sun and the setting.  (Psalm 19)  That he punishes the wicked and rewards the righteous, yet he causes the sun to shine and the blessed rain to fall on both (Matthew 5:45).  He is ruling and sustaining the universe. (Colossians 1:17)   He is intimately understanding and interested in you and I, to the point that He knows the numbers of hairs on our heads!  (Matthew 10:30)  His greatest expression of compassion, kindness, and mercy to us was shown when His own Son came and dwelt with us here on this earth,  (John 1:14) coming to both show us the Father and to lay down His life for us.  (John 14:9; Mark 10:45)  Worship is a response to this God!

Worship at North Wake is much more than the singing that we do on Sunday mornings together.  It is how we live our everyday lives in response to our loving God.  We seek to delight and enjoy the goodness of our God by obeying and following His commands.  This is how we best love Him (John 14:21).

Sunday Morning worship is simply one very important expression of that love.  In our services we seek to celebrate and give honor to God.  Our music is contemporary.  We sing Psalms, Hymns, and Spiritual Songs (Colossians 3:16); edify the body through testimony and other creative art-forms (i.e. Drama, Video).

Creative Arts Teams

Worship Teams

We have two worship teams at North Wake that rotate in leading responsibilities on Sundays.  Leading worship every other week gives every worship leader the opportunity to worship with their families and small WP- Trent Worshipgroups every other Sunday, as well as providing each team two weeks of preparation for their music.
Instrumentally our praise teams are made up of a basic rhythm section, guitars, keyboards, drums, bass, and the occasional accordion.  We love using every skilled musician we have to praise our God.  (Psalm 150) Those desiring to apprentice with the Worship Team (WT) are required to interview with Daniel Creswell, our worship pastor, and then a short audition in your area of talent (sound, vocals or band). Members are selected based on spiritual maturity, technical skills and the potential for fulfilling the goals of the apprenticeship period.

Team Leaders are accountable to each other and to the worship pastor for upholding the same high standards themselves that they expect of team members, recognizing the high visibility of this particular ministry before the congregation and not wishing to lead others astray on account of their behavior, but striving to “be holy as He is holy” and leading by example.

The Psalms Forum

“Praise the Lord!  Sing to the Lord a new song, And His praise in the assembly of saints.”  In an effort to organize the collective talents at North Wake, a ministry for songwriters and poets called The Psalms Forum organizes these people together as a collaborative effort to write songs for the church.  We typically take two song-writing retreats a year.  If you are a poet, musician, theologian, or would like more information about this ministry contact Daniel Creswell.

Drama Team

Nothing can accentuate a message like a good drama.  Our drama team does short sketches periodically on Sunday mornings that leave deep impressions that are then confronted with Biblical truth.  To serve on the drama team there is a short interview with our worship pastor and drama coordinator and an audition.  Because of the very visible role that the drama team takes, a life of obedience and worship is required of those on the team.
