In 2001 it became clear to the leadership of North Wake that God was bringing more folks to our fold than our current sanctuary (now Building 2 old sanctuary) could accommodate. After expanding to three morning services, and multiple extensions of the sanctuary space, we were simply out of room. So, we prayerfully went about planning for a new building. Including the purchase of adjoining property, the total expense was figured at $2.6 million. This included property, the new sanctuary and children’s ministry building, office and classroom spaces (Buildings 5 & 6), site improvements, as well as all furnishings.
In late 2002, we kicked off our first three year capital campaign, we called “Journey of Faith”. Site work began in 2003 and we held our first service in the new sanctuary in the summer of 2004. Since then, we have concluded another three-year campaign and two single year campaigns. Our current annual campaign concludes at the end of the year.
Throughout this time, God has been so very good to us. Hundreds more are able to call North Wake their church home, and at the same time we have led and launched two church plants, and greatly expanded our missionary footprint around the world, now totaling 29 families. Our original loan note balance is now just over $1 million, and, having refinanced our note twice, our interest cost has been reduced by over one hundred thousand dollars. God has indeed been good to us.
